VISION
A community that recognizes and implements exercise as a physiological tool to help protect, repair, and optimize brain function.
MISSION
Develop and expand access to community-based neurofitness centers and programs that implement Exercise4BrainChange™ principles of practice. Coordinate and integrate medical/rehabilitation systems of care with community-based programs and resources to promote early intervention and continuous access to research-based exercise programs.
Exercise4BrainChange™ principles are founded on cutting edge research and their translation offers promise to delay disease onset, slow disease progression, restore motor function, and increase longevity and quality of life for people with neurodegenerative or neurological conditions, and for those individuals at risk for these conditions.
GOALS
- All NeuroFit NetWorks programs will implement Exercise4BrainChange™ principles of practice in an enriched (fun and socially supportive) environment.
- Raise public awareness and offer professional development opportunities about the role of exercise in protecting, repairing and optimizing brain function.
- Develop training programs to expand availability, quality, and standardization of neurofitness centers and programs for the maximum number of individuals in a community setting with neurodegenerative or neurological conditions, and for those individuals at risk for these conditions.
- Develop a network-wide system for linking NeuroFit NetWork centers and expert trained individuals to each other and to the individuals in their community.
- Acquire financial and management resources for assisting with the development and operational success of local community Neurofit NetWorks centers and programs.
